CLAUD

Claud is one of those restaurants that reminds you why you live in New York City: great food, great wine, great service. Located in the East Village, and run by Momofuku alumni, Claud serves a sort of French American cuisine that is sure to leave you satiated and well-fed.

Claud opened a few months ago and has been notoriously hard to get into. They’ve achieved the wine bar atmosphere with dim lighting and close tables; this spot is perfect for date night. Get a great glass of red wine, enjoy some carbs with their fresh sourdough, and indulge in the desserts - to die for!

The Blistered Peppers Order:
Tartare of Beef with Nardello Peppers
Red Shrimp, olive oil and garlic
Onion Bread with anchovy and comté
Swordfish au Poivre
Half Chicken with Foie Drippings
Pistachio Bundt
Ice Cream

BEEF TARTARE WITH PEPPERS

Beef tartare can be polarizing - raw beef, eek! - but the addition of peppers mixed into the tartare cuts the beefiness. Served alongside fresh sourdough, you can pile a piece of delicious bread high with tartare and suddenly this dish is much more approachable.

ONION BREAD WITH ANCHOVIES AND COMTE

Let’s call this what it is: pizza. Just like Claud’s sourdough bread, this crust is amazingly soft, crunchy, and flavorful. The carmelized onions and comte cheese only make it that much yummier.

SWORDFISH AU POIVRE

We all know a traditional steak au poivre is divine but this swordfish is truly out of this world. Swordfish is the steak of the sea and that means the au poivre isn’t over-powering a delicate protein, but instead enhances every bite.
