OMAKASE ROOM BY MAASER
NEW YORK
$$
Let’s start with the ambiance. If you know me you know, I’m not only a lover of all things food and an extremely dedicated home cook, but I am tuned into interior design. So when walking into a new restaurant, I observe and take note of the design, ambiance/vibe, and then start focusing in on the food… and drinks. All that is to be said, that sometimes Blistered Peppers will give a suggestion that has no vibe at all.
Omakase Room by Maaser has no vibe. It is borderline sterile. This may be harsh, but the fact that I’m suggesting this spot to you even without vibe shows how good the food really is. Truly, it is a hidden gem and I don’t understand how the word isn’t out.
Omakase Room by Maaser has a 14 seat omakase bar and serves some of the best sushi we’ve ever had in New York City. Not to mention 17 pieces for $125 seems is pretty good value too! The fish is imported from Japan and trust us when we say the quality is excellent. But it isn’t just about the quality of the fish for us, it was the taste. Each piece had a different twist whether it was truffle, saffron, caviar, or charcoal salt.
You can snag a reservation on Yelp pretty easily, so go try Omakase Room by Maaser and ask for Alan.
